The theme of my book was to never give up when the people and operations around you are trying to bring you down. This developes throughout the book because the village gets asked by a company to buy out the village to drill for oil. This also developes throughout the story because just before a big tournament for the "bush" kids the Fort Yukon Eagles find out that the basketball program will be cut from the schools budgets. This theme goes hand-and-hand with "Eagle Blue" because after they find out that the basketball program is being cut next year, the team does not just give up on the season because there will not be a season next year the team tries their hardest and dedicate themselves to the game and try to make this year count.
